WWE in 2026

I'm sure there's tag or multiman stuff I'm forgetting but he legit hasn't had anything stand out in a positive way as a singles since Obama was in office.

You must have forgotten The Greatest Match of All Time vs Edge from the Thunderdome Wrestlemania

His tag team stuff with Riddle was very well received at the time. The few matches I saw with Street Profits or Gable and Otis forced him to work faster. I do like Orton as a worker much more when he just speeds it up a little.

All of his feuds with Bray were hilarious. Burning down the shack. The fight in the haunted house. Burning people alive. Silence of the Lambs Janitor Orton. Fucking classic shit.

I’m not an orton fan but this seems a bit harsh.

Though I still remember when @Brooklyn Zoo tried to convince old chat that he was better than Bret. Luckily it was pre-slack era so there’s no record of it.
There was a moment when Orton was the hottest heel getting face pops in the company, when he was kicking people like Vince in the head, then Triple H ruined it, of course.

We were joking in chat about WWE involving Cody's dog in the Orton angle to try and get sympathy heat for Cody. Glad to see WWE is thinking in somewhat similar lines. Sad to see they chickened out. If you can't use a beloved family pet to get a cheap reaction, then what has happened to this business?

Ok I don't like what I'm reading there. You can talk shit about someone's dead dad but you can't bring up a dead dog? 'Your dog hated you so much he died to get away from you' is a perfect comeback. Roman should also repeat the Moxley line but that's probably too far too lmao.

Also Punk wasn’t phased about Roman’s line about AJ coming back to make the big star money like Roman, so at least we know Phil isn’t buttoned on that detail.

my point to make there is he doesn’t care about the Moxley line because Seth and Drew already done it so it’s not a fresh one and Punk didn’t care about it nor did he care that AJ makes the bigger money. but the dog tho, don’t go that far now.

not to be a dog dad apologist, i do think a key detail is that Sika was a carny fuck to the extreme, so i don’t think it’s out of line in the wrestling business to invoke Sika. He probably had the expectation that he would be used after his passing, especially if it meant his boy was in a main event program.

it still worked in the context that Roman never had issue bringing up deceased family members before until his dad died so it wasn’t just a drive by insult hurled at him for the sake of it.

Punk is also kind of a thin skinned bitch with this stuff.

Dude hasn't even laid into Roman for those veneers.

“Fragile ego. Fragile body. Weak mind. Weak spirit” would sail over the heads of 95% of a WWE event crowd, but that would be a fucking awesome callback for those who know.
except it’s been done verbatim twice by Seth and Drew already, it’s a beaten down quote that does nothing. Roman should be more unique than reheating Moxley’s nachos.

He might as well make Rocky references if he wants to wink at his buddy. or just bring up AJ’s mental disorder if he wants to be edgy.

I just read that currently they have zero plans for Gunther at WM as his match depends on if Rey Mysterio is medically cleared. It's insane that they had him retire Goldberg, Cena, and AJ and then feel like an afterthought directly after. And, honestly I say this as someone who has Rey Mysterio near their top ten all time, it kind of feels like a step back after how huge the Styles and Cena retirements felt. Rey just never got treated as special as those guys did in WWE, so it feels like a smaller deal for Gunther.

I don’t blame them for wanting to do Rey and Gunther, in theory it’s a sound match and if Rey was finished up (and i think he is), might as well have Gunther retire him since Rey is a FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT FATHER WHO KEEPS DUCKING HIS SON.

Dom retiring Rey in Mexico in a Mask vs Hair match is the obvious choice, with them preferably doing it in AAA in Mexico, since Rey has said he hopes to have his final match there. It's a slam dunk and they could even end up turning Dom face out of it, similar to Cody turning face after the Dustin match at Double Or Nothing 2019. Gunther doesn't need to retire Rey, and i think they had a program for the IC title a few years ago, so it's not even that fresh. Then again, there are way more people excited for Cody/Orton than I expected and they had a pretty dull match at a King Of The Ring like 2 years ago.

that was the plan before Rey got hurt last year.

Dom is already the top face in AAA so that kinda throws a wrench in the idea of him retiring his dad there, it would strictly just be a symbolic gesture at this point but one that’s absolutely worth doing. Rey being a heel going into that match would be the better direction anyways.

I have been watching AAA lately and surprisingly, the most popular wrestler and “top face” there right now is El Grande Americano (the Ludwig Kaiser version.) It’s insane how popular he is. I guess knowing how to speak Spanish and cutting promos goes a long way with that crowd. Since Americano won the Rey de Reyes tournament, I would not be surprised at all to see him beat Dom for the AAA Mega Championship.

Dom gets cheered against Vikingo, but I’m not totally convinced that he would against his father.

Yes of course Ludvig is to Mexico what Piper was to Portland, the absolute top face, I should have amended that statement.

I believe Dom is mega over regardless of the occasion in AAA, not just Vikingo influenced.

Creatively, I just like the idea of a heel Rey on his way out trying to humiliate his son in Mexico to keep his own legacy.
