The Attitude Era Thread Vol 1

That camera angle just kills the whole thing. But at the same time, thanks to that camera angle, it becomes the best cinematic match of all time.

and now here we are, the halftime show performer is a wwe superstar.

it should have been you, daddy jeff.

Vince doing solo commentary while still in “what a maneuver” mode but also favoring the Rock is a strange choice. I would surmise that they wanted to do commentary live, didn’t trust Cole to do it without JR in his headset (as he was at the Rumble) and didn’t want to make JR work Super Bowl Sunday. So Vince became the only option. Or that hermaphrodite Kevin Kelly.

That was when JR was off TV for bell's palsy. Poor guy missed Tracksuit Rock.

I kinda love Vince's commentary here, though. He did all the things he used to, which was Vince's way, the corporate way. The way it used to be before that bastard Austin came along.

I didn't realize HHH and Pondo are the same age. That's kinda wild.

What happens to his career if he doesn't take that bump?

What happens to his career if he doesn't take that bump?
He teams up with Kane at the next PPV. He gets murdered by Kane at Summerslam....

Is this more of a question of long term injury? Because Mick is probably the only guy that thought Mick wasn't over and needed to do the crazy bump to salvage his career or whatever he wrote in his book.

He had just headlined the last 2 PPVs against the biggest star in the world. I don't think he was suddenly not going to be in the mix considering the top guy rotation was small.

I mean longevity. Does he get the same spot at Survivor Series and hurt his knee, which makes him want to retire? Does he even get the belt, and if so does the big rating happen? How much is in the tank? Can he put Rock or HHH over as strongly?

Also just in general is the cell match itself any good or the weakest Mankind/Taker outing? Arguably was anyway but still.

I hate the argument that Mankind/Taker HIAC was just "a spectacle" and not a match. I understand it, sure, but it's a BS take when you consider that the WWF was always about spectacle over technical excellence. What made Foley so special was that he could do the violent crap in such a way that it told a story.

If HIAC doesn't happen, then we still get Mankind/Taker with another stipulation that allows Foely to take a sick bump. Maybe he gets chokeslammed off the top to the floor, maybe a toss off the stage, whatever.

Health-wise? He's still retiring around when he does, maybe holding out until SummerSlam 2000 at the most.

You can never convince me putting the belt on him instead of Big Show is the correct move. Works hard all year, cash in at the peak, his role in the story ends naturally. He deserved the cup of coffee both in storyline and in effort.

I’m confused, you think they should have put it on test? Because the first sentence contradicts that.

I wish the Quebecers had a real run in 98. I feel like they adapt well, and once the hardcore stuff starts PCO is a breakout star.

This kind of gets eclipsed by the absolute 11/10 Kid Rock music video covering the history (to the point there's tons of fan vids doing similar videos to the song for other years/feds) but I've always felt this was really great in its own right but probably not as appreciated as it should be.

The Desire Era kinda ended when the nWo came in, feels like. I really liked the campaign, especially since the top guys were pretty much all injured or just taped together in that time.

"Lonely Road Of Faith" was so fucking cool though. Like It reminded me of why I was a fan. The fact that high was promptly stomped out makes it bittersweet
