I Just Read... Books Thread

Hit up Barnes & Noble, membership saved $20.50 (basically paid for the 2026 Engagement Calendar for my Mom's birthday tomorrow). Ended up getting the following with plans to snag a Pat Summerall/John Madden book off the site in the future.

The Ride: Paul Revere and the Night That Saved America by Kostya Kennedy
The Great Contradiction: The Tragic Side of the American Founding by Joseph Ellis
Supersonic: Oasis - The Complete, Authorized, and Uncut Interviews curated by Simon Halfon
Stupid TV, Be More Funny: How the Golden Era of The Simpsons Changed Television-And America-Forever by Alan Siegel
Disney High: The Untold Story of the Rise and Fall of Disney Channel's Tween Empire by Ashley Spencer
Box Office Poison: Hollywood's Story In a Century of Flops by Tim Robey

Got a bunch of fantasy books for Xmas as well as book certificates:
Glen Cook: Lies Weeping
RJ Barker: Heart of the Wrydwood
James Islington: The Strength of the Few
Jay Kristoff: Empire of the Dawn
Ed McDonald: Witch Queen of Redwinter
Brian Staveley: Skull Sworn, Empire's Ruin
Larry Correria: Academy of Outcasts

2025 In Books!
163 Books Read (238 last year)
377 page average (261 last year, less comics this year I guess)
Longest book "Mark Twain" by Ron Chernow at 1200 pages
Best Non-Fiction: "Vertigo The Rise and Fall of Weimer Germany" and "Palestine 1936 the Great Revolt and the Roots of the Middle East Conflict"
Best Fiction: "The Strength of The Few" by James Islington and "The Devils" by Joe Abercrombie
Best Comics: the DC Absolute Comics line.

Finally used all the book certificates I had and ordered:

Steven Erikson - No Life Forsaken
Richard Swan - The Justice of Kings
Django Wexler - Everybody Wants to Rule the World Except Me
Evan Winter - The Fires of Vengeance
Robert Jackson Bennett - Locklands
RJ Barker - Call of the Bone Ships
Pierce Brown - Red Rising
Michael R Fletcher - Beyond Redemption

Came out to around 230 I think. I miss when most of what I wanted to get was really old. 8 books at the used bookstore would cost me 50 bucks at most.
