Oh. Canada. part 2

Minority governments are good, it means they’re forced to work with others to bring forth policy that benefits all Canadians. Majority governments can pass whatever they want, which can be bad sometimes.

This is actually getting closer to a majority than expected lol. 168 and flirting with 169. This will be a strong minority government.

If we didn't have a minority government last time than we wouldn't have gotten the Dental Plan the NDP wanted which was really good. I also think that it can benefit people by forcing people to work together. It would have been nice to send a strong message of rejection to the Tories, but the fact they're losing the Popular Vote for the first time in a good while SHOULD tell them something.

It won't, but it should.

We'll see if they can work together and hopefully the Trump threats will encourage it. I also can't see any of the opposition parties being stupid enough to trigger another election anytime soon.

I thought De Jong would do better given he's been a Provincial heavyweight since I was like 5 but the power of having a C next your name can not be beaten in Abbotsford. You can run a dead chicken and it would win.

This is going to be an ongoing thing. There is no chance of it passing for a huge number of reasons. The most important are 1. Virtually no one wants it. 2. As the article says Alberta is on Treaty lands. The way Alberta joined Canada is completely different than how Quebec did, which is why Quebec was able to go about things the way it did.

That all said, it's still going to be a big pain because I think we can all imagine Trump getting involved and saying all kinds of dumb shit or even making threats.

It’s sad rural Alberta and some pockets of Calgary allowed this woman and government to get into power. The provincial NDP really needs a name change since too many people here associate it with the federal party.

This is the kind of thing where Carney has shined. Comes off fantastic on the international stage and we need someone who will work with other nations.

Moving towards China is inherently dangerous but we aren't being left with much choice on that one.

Pierre is a complete failure. I don't see any way the Conservatives take power again as long Trump stays as President tbh. The current Conservative movement in Canada has so completely sold out to the US that it would be very hard for them to swing it. They had everything perfectly set up to get a Majority government and couldn't even get a Minority. Now the Libs are only a little short of a Majority themselves. Carney is coming off like a real player on the International stage after decades of Canada feeling like it was losing its place.
